Open at the Top's production of Bush is Bad is a show which is likely to delight
LA audiences for months to come. This absolutely hilarious musical skewering of
the Idiot President of All Time is sure to be both a critical and popular hit for
the company. Reviews and word of mouth are likely to lead to multiple
extensions. Heck, this thing could run till the next elections, if James Mellon and
his company play their cards right.
The company of players (Michael Lavine, Gerry Mullins, Mai Thompson-Heath,
Melanie Ewbank, Sabrina Miller, Michael Craig Shapiro, Roger Ainslie, Stefanie
Black, Jonathan Zenz) prove themselves to be triple threats each and every
one of them. They sing, they dance, they act, they entertain, performing such
ditties as How Can 59 Million People Be So Dumb?, Crazy Ann Coulter, Das Bush
Ist Schlecht, The Gay Agenda, Scooter Libby Superstar, and Wake Me When
It's 2009.
The few remaining Bushlovers in the Southland should stay away, as I'm sure
they will. Everyone else will love this show and be telling everyone they know,
"Bush is Bad is very good indeed!"
